North American Lake Management Society

The New England Chapter of the North American Lake Management Society (NECNALMS) is a good resource for learning about lake management.

At the June 3 and 4, 2005 meeting, at Phymouth State University, Plymouth, New Hampshire. Dr. Ken Wagner (who is working with Wellesley on Morses Pond management) ran a workshop, Nuisance Algal Taxonomy and Ecology and one of the sessions, The Ghost of Loadings Past: Internal Phosphorus Loading in Lakes.

For more information regarding NALMS see www.nalms.org and for the New England Chapter see http://www.nalms.org/necnalms/.

For questions regarding the program, registration, and accommodations, contact Amy Smagula at 603-271-2248 or asmaguila@des.state.nh.us or Alicia Carlson at 603-271-0698 or acarlson@des.state.nh.us.

From my experience, these sessions are very interesting and informative. They provide good opportunities to interact with people who are on the front line of lake management activities in government and industry. It's a wonderful "eye opener".
